Wow...2020 has been an interesting challenge. Aside from the weather and the Corona Virus, conversations are slightly less exciting, but I feel as though I have had a chance to re-think my art, and I've challenged spatial relationships and the results have been somewhat interesting.
"A Sense of Place", mixed media on canvas, 24" x 24" $600
"Hotel du Village" was created in November as my first painting upon my return to Florida after time in New York (including a wonderful solo show in Saranac Lake
at BluSeed Gallery).
I have to admit this piece did not start out as one of my favorites, but, there is good movement, an interesting flow of color, objects and open space. I promise to continue observing the movement within and the images that draw my attention.
I am anxious to follow this collage/mixed media challenge. And, I look forward to seeing what happens along the way.
Plus, I have to share that every piece I paint influences my next painting. And, the colorful piece below was inspired by the above painting as I edited a sketch, and then edited a bit more.
The process of painting is a dream...I let the influences move me or fight against my direction. Whatever happens is a way to grow, to find my voice and to appreciate the opportunity to have painted in Deborah Gooch's Studio!
I remain very thankful!
