Note the yellow clad individuals, you've seen them before. As well, you might recognize the colorful paper and their edges. Continuity is minimal, but makes me smile. I have a liking for architecture -- interior and exterior areas. And, it is always rewarding to add elements of surprise. (I will let you take a closer look.)

Working on this series continues to make me smile. I approach each piece individually, however, I find it important to include some similar elements on each of the panels. But as I find a single element to put down on the birch, I basically keep moving along to make the overall composition unique while being sure to share a relationship with a prior collage. For example, the white "sail" with orange and yellow is actually the remains of my paint palette, and the missing round sections had been included on two prior collages. (Funny that continuity can be so "simple!)
How crazy is this??? But, do you get the sense of space, accept the setting and wonder if you wouldn't just love the energy in this location?
I think life should be fun, and most of my fun comes in exploring. Think about giving yourself time to wonder, you too might add a smile on your face! Thank you for watching. Next week, artist Hilary Brady will be creating one painting-a-day-for-the-five-day-challenge (brought to me by Pam Holnback of Colorado!). Well....anyone interested in participating in the painting-a-day-five-day-challenge???I am having a treat, connecting with my whimsical side and defining territories that pop into my head.
I am a native Floridian, but haven't lived in that great state since shortly after college, and yet, I still love Miami and it's wonderful suburbs -- especially Coconut Grove (my old stomping grounds). There is a fantasy about connecting with a place you yearn to further explore...and these collages have given me that breath of fresh air to say "what if?" No...this challenge is for five days, only!
As you might have noticed, I have started a new challenge for myself! I am back to collage and mixed media. I am looking for opportunities to loosen up. And, I think I am finding some interesting paths to explore. There really isn't a tool that I throw away, nor a magazine I can recycle -- for goodness sake, there might be a really ravishing tidbit inside that publication that I could include in my collage. This medium also allows me to incorporate sketches and drawings that I've created along my artistic journey. To say this challenge is fun is an understatement! If you are interested in a short challenge, let me know. You too can participate!!! It lasts for one week. You promise to paint a painting a day and post your paintings, and find another artist to participate. (Easy, right!) Promise to let me know of your interest. Thank you. ![]() There probably isn't a better way to help our Alzheimer's community than by attending this year's March 11 gala: Young at Heart! This will be the first event to be hosted by Alzheimer's | SAN DIEGO, and all of the proceeds will stay here in our community to support San Diego families facing Alzheimer's disease and advance local research for a cure!!! Young at Heart will help you feel good. You will be surprised to see how San Diego has come to acknowledge the creativity of those with Alzheimer's. Local artists enthusiastically take on the charge of creating "pairing" paintings to compliment the work of an artist with Alzheimer's, while San Diego framers graciously accept the responsibility of framing all original art by also donating their services. This truly is a community event....and did I mention that as art is auctioned, many times local celebrities and business owners will "pair" an add-on to the art during auction? And, you could be the successful bidder on a great piece of art and be the proud recipient of a painting plus a special trip -- maybe to a home abroad or perhaps aboard a lovely yacht cruise here in San Diego. No matter what you think about galas...you haven't seen anything until you get to an Alzheimer's | SAN DIEGO event! Knock your socks off...we promise a great night at the Del Mar Country Club: March 11.. For more information call: www.alzsd.org 858/492-4400. |
