Today is a very hard date to ever forget, and listening to the news coverage again from that very day in 2001 still brings chills to my body. We lived in Princeton, NJ before we moved to San Diego, CA. And, we were in CA the morning of the attack. I could only think about the people we knew working in the World Trade Center buildings, and feel their fear, the strength of characters kicking in to be helpful to others, and imagining the concerns of the town of Princeton. The losses were many, as were those of many neighboring communities and the city of NY.
I’ve been focusing on the glorious times I have enjoyed NYC with family and friends, as well as the times I would get lost and walk in circles trying to find where I was going. But, the joy in my heart of a visit to NYC still rings with a very loud chorus, especially knowing that the people of New York have a powerful grasp on tending to their City and their families, as well as their visitors.
Today I share a celebration of sorts, cherishing the good (a theme I had for last night) and a choice I must repeat. Despite the horrors that can pass in and out of moments in time, we have to “smell the roses” and believe there is hope for a fresh, new world of peace.
