Today was a lovely Sunday, not as hot as it has been, and our roses were flourishing. Naturally I headed straight to the studio to get busy on Day 13’s painting with a handful of my garden treasures.
By now, if you have been reading my blog, you know that I have been re-testing my hand on old paintings, with the hope of bringing the canvases more alive. I think I accomplished my goal today, and as I was painting that glowing yellow circle, I thought … “What???” It didn’t take me long to determine where my inspiration had come from: The Rev. Paige Blair, who had been present at a meeting, Saturday at St. James Episcopal Church in La Jolla, sharing her icons which will be part of an art show at the church starting Saturday, October 10. I was delighted to see her work, having heard her discussing her icons with Vicki Walsh (another amazing artist, who I have mentioned in an early blog). Anyway…Paige's icons all include a beautiful golden halo over her religious figures.
I am happy that I can follow a dotted line, even if the connections don’t blossom immediately. (Sorry, the blossom was not intentional. I think I’ve lived with my lovely husband for too long!) I am sure that in life, as well as in art, we can each draw connections with our forward movement
