Day Five…Summertime Blues
I decided because I enjoyed yesterday’s approach to revisiting another old painting, I might as well work with yesterday’s still life, too.
You will note that the colors vary slightly with these last two paintings. I allowed myself to accept what was there, but to paint with my palette to maintain consistency with my 30-days’ series. (I have done a great deal of exploring with painting, but never realized the importance of continuity of palette until I took some classes at La Jolla’s Athenaeum School of the Arts with Vicki Walsh. This change in my approach to my work has allowed me to focus more on my active painting time,, while encountering fewer moments of color angst.
It’s funny…nothing happens overnight … life requires patience!
PS Vicki Walsh is included in a wonderful show at RB Stevenson Gallery, "Women's Work." This show is thoughtfully presented and arranged. Finding time to get to La Jolla to see Vicki and the other artists will be time very well spent!
