Today was pre-packaged with a schedule that was daunting, so I made it to my studio by 7am and started my second challenge piece. Deep breath, it is 10pm and I have no juice in two cameras nor my cell phone. (Note to Self: Do not let these distractions interrupt my positive outlook!) Because I knew my time was limited today, last night I chose another one of my original pre-painted and collaged canvases, 8 x 8” birch panel to use for today’s challenge. I started this morning with my early morning dog duties, and ran across three gorgeous roses, decided they would create a nice composition, and gathered up a box of Lake Placid pine needles, set up my still life and started to paint. I always find it interesting when I try to determine which direction will be best for painting on an already painted canvas. And, today, I started with a specific direction in mind, and when it came for time to photograph my piece, I changed my mind, resolved an issue that had been bothering me, and finally took this shot. “Sideways Glances” is a look at what is and what was…and the truth is, I just liked the composition and thought it worthy! And, that admission is not always the case…but I feel my artful voice is growing stronger and I really am having an interesting time and I am happy! And Happy is the way I want to live!!! | |
