Day Two of my 31-paintings-a-day

It Was Just a Whim, oil on canvas, 8" x8"
Thankfully, today was lovely, despite lots of change weather clouds moving into Southern California. Regardless, I had time to run to the studio and take care of today's painting, adding to my exploration of spacial relationships. I have zeroed in on studying these relationships with the hope that my paintings will continue to tell stories.
This is only the second painting in this month-long series, certainly not similar in color to yesterday's but definitely painted with the intention of starting a conversation. For example...why in the heck would a contemporary sculpture be standing next to a beaded pineapple (from the 50's) on a stack of what appear to be books? And why the firm foundation of "books" holding up the objects when the focus is so soft that one might loose the opportunity to observe the shapes on top of the books?
My reason: I am exploring the relationship between objects? Could it be color, line, texture ... movement, quiet, tension, or what?
Tell me: what do you think of when your see this combination? Are you even curious or interested in looking any further?
Thank you for reading Day Two's post and for considering the invitation to respond.
I truly appreciate any and all input!

I'm interested in the focus of this challenge, Cree. Your paintings are always beautiful, but the idea of the story in the painting, and how others are picking up on it is interesting. The strongest electricity for me are the color steps of the books. The books grab my interest first and take me to the pineapple, which is charming. The modern sculpture confuses me, so I stop at the pineapple. Thinking more on it, the story for me is the books can literally and figuratively hold it "all."

I knew that was a beaded pineapple, soft focus and all. I knew those were books (or boxes), but I must admit the sculpture srrikes me as an alien ;-) As always, your colors work so well and hold it together, (even the mysterious object... ).
