What a treat!
Opening Night at Nicole Hadfield's 1210 Gallery was wonderful. Every face was smiling, and all the spoken words were positive, sensitive and more than encouraging. I truly stepped off the deep end and landed beautifully!
I think of my wonderful mentor, Reed Cardwell saying, "paint what you want to see!" And, I did just that, not thoroughly abstract as I had enjoyed in another life, rather boldly and colorfully in my newly found sensitive style.
A change is good. Support is excellent. And, I thank Nicole for the opportunity to show my work at 1210 Gallery. And, I thank all the lovely art-focused supporters.
What’s Next?
While I am working on the contents of my next series, I've taken time off to clean my studio and home, and it is just about time for me to kick into action! (Yes, spring cleaning is very late!)
I've thought about composing with my many "found" objects — remember the "Dog Walks" series? — Perhaps this time around I will look back for a little influence from one of the best modern Italian painters — Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964). His luscious still life compositions, filled with minimum color and beautiful brushstrokes are amazing. I hope to create sensitive compositions with a play on color, but with the thoughtfulness I believe Morandi maintained. This avenue for adventure could be a very useful tool.
