Day Seven....I decided because I enjoyed yesterday’s approach to revisiting another old painting, I might as well work with yesterday’s still life, too.
You will note that the colors vary slightly with these last two paintings. I allowed myself to accept what was there, but to paint with my palette to maintain consistency with my 30-days’ series. I have done a great deal of exploring with painting, but never realized the importance of continuity of palette until I took some classes at La Jolla’s Athenaeum School of the Arts with Vicki Walsh. This change in my approach to my work has allowed me to focus more on my active painting time, and fewer moments of angst because I see something wrong with color.
It’s funny…nothing happens overnight … life requires patience!
PS Vicki's work is included in RB Stevenson Gallery's current show "Women's Work." The show opened this past weekend, and it is marvelous! Be sure to get to 7661 Girard Avenue, #201, La Jolla. *58/459-3917
